The Prakash Mani Sharma Academy for Public Interest Law has been established to address the pressing need for education and advocacy in the realm of Public Interest Litigation (PIL). Recognizing the importance of equipping the younger generation with the knowledge and skills to prevent the misuse of PILs, the Academy aims to ensure that future advocates can challenge arbitrary decisions by the executive and engage effectively in the lawmaking process. Inspired by Mr. Sharma’s three decades of dedication to protecting public interest, the Academy seeks to promote environmental sustainability, social justice, and accountability within governmental bodies. Through its various objectives, including research on indigenous rights and gender equality, training programs, and advocacy efforts, the Academy is committed to fostering a culture of constitutionalism and rule of law in Nepal, empowering a new generation to safeguard the rights of both present and future generations.
